Established 1984. Howard L. Johnson was a longtime principal in the School District of Palm Beach County. Mr. Johnson was a devoted principal who cared about the well-being of all his students. He was concerned that some of his students had to travel more than 10 miles to get to school in the western part of the county. His vision was for the community of Royal Palm Beach to have an elementary school. H.L. Johnson Elementary School was opened in 1984, cutting travel time for nearby families. Mr. Johnson died before the school was opened in his honor.
